T.H. Bell Community Council Meeting

Minutes: 

In attendance:  Dr. T.J. Eskelsen, Chair (parent),  Marcy Poehls, Vice Chair (parent), Principal Lenn Ward, Assistant Principal Quinn Talbot, Natalie Bushman (parent), Jacob Kennard (school employee), Michael Thomas (parent),  Ariana Sears  (school employee).

o  No FUN party reported on

o  Chromebook use reported on

▪     Dr. Eskelsen reported he was shocked that he saw his son doing homework now that he has the Chromebook.

▪     Bark discussed

o  Request from Mrs. Roylance for two new books (20 of each) to be added to the school’s supply. (about $420)

▪     Vote taken and approved unanimously

o  RISE results shown and discussed

▪     6th to 7th grade showed excellent improvement

▪     7th to 8th declined

o  Aspire results shown and discussed

▪     Doing very well in ELA and also doing well in other two areas

▪     Growth percentile shown and discussed

•     We are excited about the excellent growth shown

•     12% grew 80-100%

•     15% grew 61-80%

o  Current year LAND Trust budget shown and reported on

o  Next year’s LAND Trust proposals outlined

▪     Goal 1

•     Credit recovery - $1,500

•     Band equipment - $400


▪     Goal 2

•     Chromebook lease - $24,000

•     Replace and repair technology - $8,000

o  TSSA Moneys discussed

▪     Goal 1

•     Shared LCSW – $12,750

•     Teacher buyouts for reading class- $10,000

•     Additional student advocate - $17,500

•     Homework Haven - $4,000


•     Credit Recovery - $1,500

•     L.I.A. conference & registration - $750

•     Professional development - $3,000

•     HOPE squad registration and activities - $1,000

▪     Goal 2

•     Classroom Technology and repair - $5,000

•     Chromebook repairs and replacement - $6,000

▪     Projected amount we hope to receive - $65,000

▪     Proposed to spend - $61,500

o  Committee voted on LAND Trust proposed budget

▪     Approved unanimously

o  Committee voted on TSSA proposed budget

▪     Approved unanimously

o  Restorative practice discipline discussed

▪     Still in the emerging stage but we are seeing good things
