T.H. Bell Community Council Meeting

February 6, 2019    4:00 PM    Office Conference Room

Minutes: 

In attendance: Thomas Eskelsen, Ariana Sears, Amy Morgan, Natalie Bushman, Jennifer Olsen, Lenn Ward, Nichole Warren-Doman, and Brooke Dow.

  • Welcome by Chair Thomas Eskelsen
    • Reviewed meeting minutes from previous meeting
    • Invited council members to attend that Accreditation parent focus group on Feb. 13th at 11:00 a.m
    • Turned time over to Lenn Ward

 

  • Principal Lenn Ward  - School Accrediation and Trust Lands Review
    • Explained the Accreditation meeting and purpose
    • Reviewed the plan and goals for the Trust Land Funds from the 2017/18 school year
      • Reviewed how the money was spent last year and how that plan has benefitted the school
      • Asked if there were any questions about how money was used/spent from the plan from the 2017/18 year

 

  • Explained that the money from Trust Land has been revised to $73,755 for the 2018/19 year 

 

  • The 1:1 initiative payment was explained and a short video explaining the process was shown, the ONE-TO-ONE section on the district website was shown to the council. 
    • Questions were asked and answered
    • The cost for repair or replacement was explained
    • Asked how the council felt about the using Trust Land funds to pay for the 1:1 initiative
      • Council was supportive and excited

 

  • Allocation of funds for the 2018/19 year were explained:
    • $39,312 - for teacher buy outs
    • $20,820 - for 1:1 Chromebooks for students
    •   $4,500 - for student advocate
    •   $4,000 - for technology, improvement, repair and replacement, needs of technology
    •   $2,000 - for ongoing professional development, trainings, summer teacher trainings
    •   $3,123 - carry over

School Community Council Chair, Thomas Eskelsen, took a vote and all members were in favor.

Lenn Ward will finalize the Trust Lands plan.

The final plan will be emailed to the council members to be reviewed and voted on.

The next meeting will be the final approval of the Trust Lands funds.

Next meeting is March 6th at 4:00 PM.
