T.H. Bell Community Council Meeting

November 6, 2019    4:00 PM    Office Conference Room

Minutes: 

In attendance: Chairman Dr. Thomas Eskelsen, Vice Chair Marcy Poehls, Principal Lenn Ward,  Natalie Bushman (parent), Jessica Mcafee (parent), Michael Thomas (parent), Jacob Kennard (school employee), and Ariana Sears (school employee). 

Welcome: Chairman Eskelsen     

  • Vote was taken to have Marcy Poehls as Vice Chair. Voting was unanimous.
  • Vote was taken for a request for classroom supplies by Mr. Thorngren for additional student atlases for$180 and headphones as he prepares for Ascend One to One with Chromebooks for $120. Vote was unanimous to purchase.
  • Vote was taken to purchase more classroom sets of calculators for math department for $300. Vote was approved.

Chairman Eskelsen turned time over to Mr. Ward.

Principal Ward:

  • Review of first quarter

 

  • NO FUN qualified 528 out of 638 students. Great quarter academically.

 

  • Remediation Credit Recovery: Ninth grade students that failed a core class are placed in a credit recovery homebaseclass to work on credit recovery.

 

  • Review Progress Report 2019-20 and TSSA for current progress.

 

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) counselors are amazing and have a full load.

 

  • Student Advocates are working with 60 students each.

 

  • Discuss School Improvement Plan 2020-2021: Needs are in Chromebook lease, LCSW and MTSS counselors, Student Advocates and technology.

 

Chairman Eskelsen thanked all for coming and announced next Meeting February 5, 2020.
